Drummer News: Drummer Henry Adler Dies at 93

Adler was born in New York City in 1915 and grew up during the Depression. His father gave him his first drum at the age of 13, and before receiving any formal instruction he was offered his first drumming gig at age 15 in Belmar, New Jersey. Henry learned the timpani in Brooklyn's Lincoln High School orchestra and was soon playing on CBS’s Horn and Hardart’s Children’s Hour. This past week, Pasic 2008 took place from November 6th to the 8th. As one of the more renown events in the drumming industry, the line-up could only contain some of the best drummers in the business. Drummers from everywhere imaginable come to this jam-packed event! Drummer Event: PASIC 2008

The lineup will include more than 150 events on twelve stages featuring many of the world's best musicians on drumset, orchestral percussion, keyboard, world percussion, marching and more. Confirmed artists and presenters will be announced in July. The convention's International Drum and Percussion Expo takes place Nov. 6-8 with more than 130 exhibitors showcasing the latest in percussion instruments, gear, publications and services. The nationally recognized PASIC Marching Percussion Festival also takes place during the convention. This indoor festival features a competition of high school and collegiate drumlines and solo performers vying for top honors.   The convention’s International Drum and Percussion Expo will highlight more than 100 industry exhibitors showcasing the latest in percussion instruments, publications and services. The Expo will be open to convention attendees November 6-8 and available to the general public daily for $15; children under 12 are admitted free. The annual PASIC Marching Percussion Festival will take place on November 6 and 7. The festival features a competition of high school and collegiate drumlines and solo performers vying for top honors in this nationally recognized contest. Tickets for Friday, November 7 are available to the general public for $15 and includes access to the International Drum and Percussion Expo; children 12 and under are admitted free.
