Billy Ashbaugh: Songo Introduction

For all you guys & gals out there just getting into Songo you'll want to check this out. In this lesson I break down the groove as it was explained to me years ago. I've also included an accenting exercise to help get your left hand stronger. Hope you enjoy!!

Great to get a variation of an old favourite! also sounds very nice when you move it round the toms or just playing the accent on any tom....! Very nice ! Thanks..!!!!!

You're welcome! Yeah...I agree, moving the left hand around the toms is a great variation to this groove. Thanks for watching!

I have seen many people explain this groove and this is by far the best...very simple to follow and clear...great teacher

Love the lessons Billy. My issue was with my right hand only playing the half note pattern. My left hand and foot fell right in line. Maybe once i get the right hand disciplined i'll add some right hand fills with some bells.

If i accent on the 2 it settles my right hand down. Now i don't have the urge to let the right hand fly off. You make it so easy to learn.
