So, I find in some circumstances that changing grip mid song depending on the pad being played. For example, I find fast rolls (especially on the hh) are easier with the 'French' grip but moving between the toms and the snare is easier with the 'German' grip. Is this a bad habit or something that's common?

hi there my friend,studying all kind of grips its important but more important is to use them and be able to switch grips when required,for example for a change of volume,tone,more endurance or simply because feels more comfortable to you.in my opinion if you able to switch grips without even thinking about it,just shows that your body is adapting to different circumstances and requirements.good luck
