Jeff Ocheltree Interview

Jeff Ocheltree isn't what you would call an average roadie. His job as a drum technician in recording studios and at concerts is more of an art form than it looks.

Jeff has worked on the road with groups such as Led Zeppelin, Supertramp, Journey, Chicago and Chick Corea and many more live touring acts as well as many recording artists. He is known for his passion of not just being a basic drum tech, it's his passion for the instrument and making drums sound the way they are supposed to.

Being a master drum technician, Jeff knows the inner workings of how drums are made and how to repair them. Having this knowledge of the instrument itself, Jeff had the vision to build is own drums. Taking drum smith to another level, Jeff has created beautiful bronze snare drums/drum kits from scratch using recycled alloy from used Paiste cymbals. He has custom-made his drums for big names such as Carl Palmer, Alex Van Halen, and Danny Carey.

We were fortunate to have Jeff Ocheltree in town with us from April 21st to the 24th . We had the chance to get into his head and hear everything there is to know about Jeff and his passion for what he does. He brought with him two of his beautiful “TreeBronze” snare drums, along with hours of stories of the experiences he had.
