For those of you who think your best years as a musician are behind you think again. Jerry Thill is a 91 year old musician that still gigs out in LA once a month! Although Jerry has spent the last half century as a musician and vocalist in the jazz scene she was reintroduced to the world by Allee Willis. For those of you not familiar with Allee, you may recognize some of her work.
Allee's songs have sold more than 50,000,000 records including Earth, Wind & Fire's "September" and "Boogie Wonderland," The Pointer Sisters' "Neutron Dance,"Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield's "What Have I Done To Deserve This,"The Rembrandts" I'll Be There For You (Theme From Friends)", the Broadway musical The Color Purple and the current MyPpace smash, "Does She Love Me?" by Stallionaires. Her latest collaboration has been with Jerrie with the current release of her new video "Hey Jerrie".
"Jerrie isn't happy unless two sticks are in her hands and high heels are on her feet tapping the bass drum like a steady heartbeat." - Allie Willis
"Hey Jerrie" is about Jerrie's love of drumming and how it's kept her 91 years young. With the video being released just a week ago, it has since exploded online and continues to climb, at one point ranking as the 12th most popular video on YouTube. I can only hope that if I'm still around at that age I can still do what I love. For more information on Jerrie you can visit her website HERE.
