Submitted by drumfreak on Fri, 11/23/2007 - 09:10.This past Tuesday we at Drummer Connection decided to take a trip from Orlando out to Tampa Bay Florida to scout out some of the area drum stores. We also needed to purchase some more gear and possibly another set for the studio, so our entire day was focused on the shopping experience. While on our road trip, we did not reveal ourselves as Drummer Connection until we had a chance to get an unbiased opinion of what it would be like go shop at these places.

Get a Great Sound for a Great Price!
Submitted by drumhead101541 on Wed, 11/07/2007 - 14:33.Have you ever been to a concert and seen all those famous drummers with their nice mic'd up high-end drum kits? They sound nice, big, and impressive. Most drummers see those drums and immediately think that you can only get that sound by spending loads of money on those high-end drum kits. This isn't necessarily true. I recently went to a show, and one of the band's drummer had a Pacific MXR drum kit. Just hearing the sound check for the drums gave a great impression on their live sound. Without looking anyone could have mistook them for any high-end drum kit. Pacific(by DW) are starting to move up in their line of drums by going up on quality, and keeping a great price. Their drums have all-maple, and all-birch shells, which lets them compete with the much more expensive brands. So if your looking to get a better sound, and want to save some money, consider trying a set of Pacific drums.

Drum-Off 2007: District Finals
Submitted by King on Thu, 10/25/2007 - 12:54.Guitar Center Orlando hosted the next heat of it's annual Drum-Off 2007.The winners of 8 stores within the southern district now had to battle it out for over $2000 in prizes and bragging rights for one of the worlds most famous drum competition's. Tension was thick as audience members and participants alike waited for the judges final decision. In the end it was Ruffin Jackson who stood out to become this years District Champion and earned the right to move on the Regional Finals in Clearlake,TX on Nov. 14th. Ruffin, store winner of Baton Rouge-La, has been playing drums for all of his life. Having toured with the group "Too Hypnotic" Ruffin now spends time sharing his talent with fellow musicians and playing for his home church back in Louisiana. Ironically, after speaking with Ruffin, he mentioned that while working for DHL he injured his right foot during a freight delivery the day before! Limping to the stage ever so humble, Mr. Jackson gained the respect and support of his fellow brethren as we wish him good luck and a speedy recovery.

I think it's a great idea that should have come to pass long before now, as these are the most neglected musicians within our community. Make sure you give these fellow brethren the respect and support they deserve. And coming soon .....the interview with Handidrummed founder Rob Richard. http://www.handidrummed.com/

Submitted by King on Wed, 10/10/2007 - 16:02.

We here at Drummer Connection love our Modern Drummer Festival, which was why like so many of you, we're heartbroken to hear there will be no Modern Drummer Festival 2007. That also means no DVD for your collection!
Modern Drummer Festival was previously held at the famous New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Next year's event will take place in September 2008 at yet to be disclosed venue in New York . I was assured by the Modern Drummer staff today that all information and future updates will be available shortly on moderndrummer.com.
