They sound awesome and do make obnoxious sounds when opening and closeing.
havic Says 16" hats

I'm currently using 16" hats. Made the pair from and sabian crash for the top, and an old CB 7000 crash for the bottom. they sound killer! Yet what i really want to get are the 15" om series hats from Istanbul Agop. Tested them out a couple weeks ago, and still have their incredible wash slosh sound stuck in my head!
RobOnDrums Says I love Zildian but Sabian hats are good also!

I use a Zildjian 14" medium crash for my top hat and a 14" Sabian HHX Evolution that I had ported at the Sabian factory... it sounds wicked! Never met a set of 13" hats I liked but if I ever found a set of 15"s that I like I'm sure I'd love them...

I personally think that the Zildjian A Custom cymbals in general sound beautiful. They have the right balance of brightness and darkness. To me, they are perfect.

I usually play on 13" Paiste 2002. Crispy, chirpy and very well defined. They have a good Sloshy sound when I leave them half open and just bash them, but sometimes for the track a 14" would get a better wash sound.
Drummer Drew Says says you can't go wrong with 14" Zildjian New Beat
Submitted On: Monday, Jul 26, 2010 - 1:08 AM
I got my first drum set in the summer of 1987 and they came with 14" Zildjian New Beat hi-hats. At the time, I was only 14 and didn't know much, but I knew what bad hi-hats sounded like and mine defintely didn't sound bad. Since then I had Sabian 14" AA hats which sounded nice, but not as nice as the New Beat hats. So after a couple of years with the Sabians, I bought another pair of New Beats and I haven't looked back.

I play on a set of 14" Zildjian Z custom hats and love the cripsness of the stick response and the trashy response when played open. They also have a very distinct 'chick' when played with the foot. However, I'd really like to try a set of 13" hats just to see....

Using Paiste 3000 14" Heavy. I kinda came into them by accident, but I love them now.

I've been running some 14'' Zildjian ZXT's for a while now, and they haven't let me down yet!
Although there is a set of new Sabian B8 14'' that I just love!
The Closed Hat sound of the Zildjians combined with the Open Hat sound of the Sabians are just killer!
Two high-hats man, lol the way to go!

I really like the size and feel of 13" hats.. I usually play on Zildjian Master Master Sounds because I like the brightness. Here's an example of these hats: http://www.drummerconnection.com/users/drumfreak/media/audio/42541-091221-eric-and-hector-jam-part-2
