Not So Modern Drummer magazine sponsored this show in the mid to late nineties but it came to a screeching halted when its host John Aldridge moved from Nashville to Oklahoma. New publisher George Lawrence is bringing the show back! One of the big attractions of having the show on this particular weekend is that the NAMM show is just down the street, insuring not only a good attendance but also the appearance of lots of drumming celebrities! Also the Snare Drum Olympics will be held just prior to the show and all the drums entered by the manufacturers will be on display. Formerly called the NSMD Southern Vintage & Custom Drum Show, the name has been shortened to just Southern Drum Show and is not excluding modern drums. Plans are now for there to be separate areas for Vintage & Custom, Clinics and Demonstrations, Modern Drums.
