While on our trip out at the NAMM Show 2008, we found many very interesting innovations throughout the convention as a whole. While walking from one booth to another, we came across Orange County Drums and Percussion (OCDP), their staff greeted us with a head-turning main-display that would grab anyone's attention. This Green Candy-colored kit with what looked like a bicycle built into it was getting a great response from all visiting bystanders. This masterpiece was was thought of and created by Lou Dog, drummer for the Kottonmouth Kings. In collaboration with OCDP, Fonzy the Airbrush and Tattoo Artist and many others, Lou Dog came to create a real piece of engineering and musical art.
The "Cloud Nine" kit featured a NAMM was both a research project, and a mechanical feat in itself. Lou Dog was in the works of creating his ninth Kottonmouth Kings drum-trike, and wanted something different. He was sitting at home and was studying pictures of the 1933 Rolls Royce Phantom, and the idea of the "Cloud Nine" just simply came to him. Lou wanted to create a drum-trike that was "classy with an edge" and had to "keep it gangsta". With customizations to the trike, he was able to fit the drum configuration he wanted.
This is how the concept started, a 1973 Schwinn Town and Country-Trike:

We hope to see more Lourider creations in the future!
