This is a great exercise to work on your independence. This exercise consists of playing 3 over 4 and I'll just let Ray explain it from there. Make sure to start SLOW.... we all can't be Terry Bozzio.

Here Ray finishes up his discussion on "thinking clean". He starts with demonstrating quad fills and four stroke ruffs, then offers advice on posture. Afterwards he presents another exercise which focuses on timing and diversifying your double bass fills. Really great stuff!

Ray explains the importance of "thinking clean" while practicing tom patterns. Stressing to play each note evenly so you get a consistent sound across the kit. He further demonstrates this by playing several examples that you can use while practicing in your spare time to develop triplet fills.
