Local friends and fans came out yesterday to All Pro Percussion as they
were hosting Randy Van Patten's first debut clinic. You may me familiar
with Randy by his videos posted on YouTube, and his myspace. Last
night's clinic at All Pro Percussion covers the same techniques and
tricks as seen in his current DVD, “Extreme Drum Set Techniques” which he self-produced. Throughout the clinic, Randy kept a smile on
everyone's face with his wacky style of humor. There was never a dull
moment in the room as he puts a fun spin on his lessons.

When it comes to little tricks and ideas for your drumming, Randy can
help. He talks about and explains some cool ideas to apply to your
everyday playing, such as the “hi hat stomp”. This is a cool exercise he
teaches to help bring more feel and rhythm into your playing.

All in all, Randy made it clear to everyone in the room that drumming
should be fun. And putting many of Randy's ideas and techniques into
your playing can really open yourself up to a new level of drumming.
