ringochris Says Overhead Angle

Submitted On: Wednesday, Feb 17, 2010 - 6:17 AM

Thanks guys. Just a note on the overhead thing....I use quite an old Sony Cyber Shot (DSC P10) stills camera with a video facility. When I recorded this, I wanted to get a better angle, and discovered that the tripod thread mount on the camera was exactly the same thread as one of my cymbal boom stands! I don't know if most cymbal stands are the same thread, but well worth checking it out. Be careful you have a good counterweight, or tape down the stand, because I'd hate for anyone to damage some expensive camera gear!

I know of a really excellent overhead camera tripod. It is kinda expensive, but if you're mounting a camcorder overhead, you should do it right! http://www.amazon.com/Davis-Sanford-WB8-Ceiling-Mount/dp/B0010ENTGW/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266337246&sr=8-10

Yikes! that's kind of pricey. I was looking at the Best Buy website yesterday for ideas on price points and capabilities suited for my needs. Or, I might ask my mother-in-law if I can borrow hers. She has to have the best, most high tech stuff and I hope she'll let me use it. I really want to show some chops.

cowboyplayindrummer Says I like the overhead angle too. You can really see eerything that

I like the overhead angle too. You can really see eerything that way. I think that may be how I go about it when I'm ready...I mean...have the camcorder. Grrrrr!

drumfreak Says Dude, nice overhead angle! Great playing too!
