We managed to pick up enough FREE tickets from 1iota.com (a Samsung website) to go out to the Smashing Pumpkins concert on Friday night here in Orlando at Universal Studios Hard Rock. Everyone had to stand in line for about an hour outside and just about everyone got drenched due to Tropical Storm Fay trying to exit the area leaving us with some heavy rains.
After we got into the concert, the show kicked up about a half hour later. The Smashing Pumpkins really played a great show which lasted around 2 1/2 hours. They didn't kick off with Doomsday Clock, but instead we were taken on a journey of songs you would really only know if you're a true Smashing Pumpkins head. We heard Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Mayonase, some older stuff and some newer stuff, I was enjoying myself too much to keep tabs on which songs were played...
As always, we observed the drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Jimmy, who's bicepts make Thomas Lang look average, put on a hell of a show. Jimmy rocked the hell out of his Yamaha kit loaded with Zildjian cymbals. After a while he came out to center stage and played some shakers, a tamborine, and he had a smaller setup of a kick drum / snare drum which he played for two songs. It's nice to see a drummer bust out just the snare drum and slim it down during the middle of the concert.
It was an awesome show. If I recall the Samsung Blackjack 2 was released, and this concert was in support of that. However, we were not even forced to watch a commercial or anything like that. There were some merchandise booths and stands setup, but nothing was being shoved in your face, so hell yeah, that was a FREE Smashing Pumpkins Concert!

great show
very very artistic show. I went with some friends and I enjoyed it very much. They made me leave my cowbell at the metal detector though...

Yeah..
There were some periods where parts of the audience just poured out. Some of the pumpkins songs are quite lengthy and artistic and kinda go on for _awhile_. There were pockets of people just emptying out so you could move forward to the stage. Still a great show...

I'm still wet!
Amen to that brother! My date and I got drenched! If it hadn't been for Scott and his umbrella we would have really looked like a bunch of wet rats. It was still a good time...give and take. The three songs I really wanted to hear they didn't even play. Still a good show, and Jimmy is freaking DIESEL. Very....large...arms.

Re: I'm still wet!
I would have liked to have heard Rhinocerous, Drown and Doomsday clock. Anything else off of the Siamese Dream Album would have been great too. However, it was a great concert for the price!
