This is Todd Walker,a Florida resident who operates a drum studio out
of the Port St. Lucie area. In addition to being a session/studio player and
instructor Todd performs with one of Florida's most premier groups

In this video Todd delivers a great explanation of how to play 7/8.
He starts with some pad/metronome exercises and then shows how they can
be applied to a groove.

Now we get to learn some more odd time madness as Todd shows us a
groove in 5/4. I love how he just breaks everything down in such a
simple fashion, it's very easy to understand whether you have the
vocabulary or not. What's really cool about this groove is that it
starts out sounding like a funk groove, but later as he speeds it up it
turns into a breakbeat. Tell me what you think.
