Today’s lesson is going to take a look at what I call the Paradiddle Groove. We’ll create the groove by simply playing a steady flow of 16th notes as Paradiddles and then moving the right hand up to the hi-hat. After the hands get comfortable, we’ll practice playing a series of 1 bar rhythms from the download PDF on the kick drum to create several different Paradiddle Grooves. |

I am a 'dirty drummer' of sorts as I have been self taught over many many years. Quite a few of these 'patterns' I could play, but I never broke them down and analyzed WHAT I was playing. (It just sounded right)
Now I can practice the CORRECT technique and it makes even more sense! Thank you for that!

Very cool...glad you got something from the lesson! Yeah, once you can break down & understand something, you'll get a lot of mileage from it. Thanks for watching & good luck with your journey!

This is an amazing resource. As a relative beginner (two months) I'm sure paradiddle groove no. 1 will keep me busy for weeks. Thanks, and I think I need a cowbell!

Billy,
I really enjoyed this lesson! Thanks ...
PS. I think I will move my cow bell from the left side of the snare to the right side. (Why didn't I think of that?)
cheers, eddo
