Billy Ashbaugh: Heel Toe Hi-Hat Technique

For today’s lesson we’re going to look at a technique used to create an open and closed hi-hat effect by using your left foot only. Get ready for a left leg workout! Once you get this concept down, it’s a great way to spice up a groove.

Very good demonstration. Creating patterns with the hihat is very challenging.
Do you use a tambourine mount on your hihat? I would like a demonstration
on some uses of that.

Thanks...no I do not have a tambourine mount for the hat. That would make a good lesson though!
