Paradiddle-Diddle Exercise

Paradiddle-Diddles help alleviate the stress of having to crank out 16th notes at high speed. By placing the 1st accent on a different tom,or cymbal, you can play what I like to refer to as the infamous "jazz fill".

are the diddles (rr & ll) actual strokes? or do you do a double stroke roll on them?

word. coolest rudy.
for anyone interested, you could also approach this differently.
for example: instead of R-L-rr-ll,
try R-ll-rr-L
audibly they sounds like "Pair-A-diddle-diddle"
"Pair-diddle-diddle-A"

Got a question. In this vid. The 'Para Diddle Diddle" he notes the sticking as:R L RR LL & L R LL RR. I have never in my internet searching seen this rudiment offered with the, L R LL RR sticking. And in his example he only uses the, R L RR LL sticking. I love this rudiment, I'm currently working up my 16th note trips. What is the deal? I guess my question is: Is he mistaken to quote the, L R LL RR sticking or is it just an uncommon way to teach this rudiment? Thanks, don P

He is alternaing it, which you can do with all rudiments to help develop both hands. Try this RLRRLL RLRR LRLLRR LRLL than repeat the pattern. Now you are looping the pattern and consequently working on start the rudiment. with both hands.
