Snare Drum Head Change and Tuning Drum Lesson

Here's Billy Ashbaugh and Eric 'drumfreak' Rosebrock giving a demonstration for the new drummers out there on changing your snare drum heads and tuning the drum. This lesson is fast paced, yet loaded with useful information. We decided to grab a handycam and film this on the fly without rehearsal. We hope you appreciate our personal approach to maintaining your snare drum. Enjoy!

How can you tell the difference between pitches? I am kind of new at this.

Does it matter if you finger-tighten the T-rods and leave it overnight to let the glue around the edge settle?
I've heard hear-say that doing so at a room temperature allows the head to stretch naturally before you tune. Is this accurate information?

Billy was really thorough in his presentation of tuning. The drum design makes you work a little bit, especially if it's 6" or 7" deep.On the fly "superb" fellas.Plus the EC-2 batter resonates like crazy anyway. You covered it all.

I'm glad you found this useful. It was a quick video we decided to do before shooting some lessons. Perhaps we'll grab a tom-tom next!
